Delegation of Turkeys Interior Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) is on a visit to our country

On December 1, 2021, a delegation led by Deputy Head of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Turkey Ismail Palakoglu arrived in our country.

The aim of the visit is to further develop relations between the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan and the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), expand the exchange of information and experience in various fields, exchange views on various aspects of relations in accordance with the "Action Plan on Azerbaijan-Turkey Economic Cooperation".

During the visit, Deputy Minister Lieutenant-General Etibar Mirzayev met with the delegation led by Deputy Head of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) Ismail Palakoglu.

Welcoming the guests on behalf of Minister Kemaleddin Heydarov at the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Deputy Minister Etibar Mirzayev first expressed his condolences over the victims of the heavy storm in Turkey and wished recovery to the injured.

The Deputy Minister reminded that the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the fraternal Turkish people stood by the Azerbaijani state and people in the liberation of Azerbaijani territories, and called it a clear example of our brotherhood. Noting constantly developing relations between two brotherly countries, Etibar Mirzayev stressed that close cooperation was established in terms of emergency situations management, as in all other fields. The Deputy Minister reminded that Azerbaijan was the first country to come to help the brotherly country in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in order to eliminate the consequences of the 2011 earthquake in the Turkish province of Van. He also drew attention to the activity of the fire-and-rescue forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which was sent to Turkey to extinguish wildfires in July-August this year.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome, Deputy Head of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) Ismail Palakoglu expressed his condolences over the deaths of servicemen as a result of the helicopter crash during the training in Azerbaijan and wished recovery to the injured.

Noting that the existing relations between the two countries' agencies in the fight against emergency situations are developing year by year, Palakoglu

expressed their appreciation for the activity of Azerbaijani firefighters in extinguishing fires in Turkey this summer. Expressing his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and the brotherly people of Azerbaijan for the support and assistance, the guest stressed the importance of further deepening relations between the relevant agencies of the two countries. Ismayil Palakoglu also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation between the agencies of the two countries in order for the MES International Search and Rescue Unit of Azerbaijan to pass the classification of the International Search-and-Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

The sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and videos were shown dedicated to the Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood.

Then the Turkish guests visited the MES State Agency for Control over Construction Safety, met with the head of the Agency Jabrayil Khanlarov and got acquainted with the activities of the agency.

It should be noted that the AFAD delegation also visited other agencies of the MES and Republican Seismic Survey Center of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and got acquainted with their activities.
