MES holds seminar-conference on the theme "Radioecological sources in the liberated territories"

The Main Department for work with regional centers, project management and education issues of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Isotope special enterprise organized a seminar-conference on the theme "Radioecological sources in the liberated territories" at the Ministry's Karabakh Regional Center in Guzanli settlement, Aghdam region.

The seminar-conference was attended by the authorized representatives of the MES, representatives of the executive authorities of the liberated regions, as well as regions nearby the liberated territories, regions hit by missile attacks by Armenia.

Making a keynote speech at the event, office chief at the MES Main Department for work with regional centers, project management and education issues Azadi Guliyev spoke about the importance of the historic Victory gained by our glorious Army under the wise leadership of Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Noting that our settlements were completely destroyed by Armenians during the years of occupation, the office chief drew attention to the fact of damage to the nature. He said that determining and eliminating possible consequences related to radioecological situation were top priorities.

Then, director of Isotope special enterprise Fikrat Aslanov gave information about the radiation safety, radiation sources, talked about the radiation threat of phosphorus and other dangerous weapons used by the enemy during the war. He said that Armenia had a large number of ammunitions from the arsenal of the USSR, which created a radiation threat. This includes night vision devices, military compasses and clocks, and devices used in military vehicles. Fikrat Aslanov said the persons visiting the liberated territories must be very careful, inform the relevant government agencies when they notice such devices. He underlined the importance of raising awareness among the people.

Broad discussions were held, questions answered during the event.

Booklets entitled "Radioecological hazardous sources in the liberated territories" and "Guidelines on radiation safety" were distributed among the participants at end of the event.
