On April 23, 2016 at 09: 35 "SOS" signal was received in the National Center of the State Maritime Administration on fire occurred in "PALFLOT-2" tanker moving without cargo in the direction of Alaja Port of Turkmenistan and embarked from Dubandi Port of Azerbaijan. Sailing under the flag of the Russian Federation ship was approximately 110 km off the coast when fire occurred.

In accordance with the instructions, relevant forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the "Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company" CJSC had been involved in the process of eliminating the consequences of the accident.

Emergency Situations Ministry's "MI-171V" and "KA-32" helicopters and "Vikhr-5" ship, as well as the Caspian Shipping Company’s "Caspian Voyager", "Caspian Protector", "Islay" and "Jura" are fire-fighting at the moment.

10 people out of 11 crew members of the tanker have been rescued, 1 person - chief mechanic Andrey Vladimirovich Kramchuk is missing.
