MES starts an exercise in the framework of EU program

On February 24, Ministry of Emergency Situations starts the exercise on “Civil Defense Mechanism and Support of a Host Country receiving Humanitarian Aid" subject in the framework of the 2nd phase of EU’s Eastern Partnership program on “Natural and man-made disaster prevention, preparedness and response”. ADA University hosts the event. Knowledge Center training project was launched in partnership with the European Affairs. The project group leader Sergey Anagnostin moderated the exercise launched by the partnership of the Knowledge Center on  EU Affairs.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, medical service Lieutenant-General Faig Tagi-zade noted that MES keeps a constant focus on the establishment of bilateral relations and expansion of cooperation with foreign countries and international organizations to develop emergency warning, prevention and consequences elimination. Mr. Tagi-zade pointed out the event as a bright example of the high-level relations with respected international organizations such as UN, EU and others.Speaking about the projects implemented jointly with the EU Deputy Minister expressed confidence that the event will make a significant contribution to the situation analysis of the mentioned field in the country, as well the implementation of the objectives standing ahead. Then, he wished success in the course of the exercise.

In turn, the EU ambassador to Azerbaijan Malena Mard noted that it is very important to work together on the issue of prevention of natural disasters. According to the Ambassador, cooperation with the Ministry of Emergency Situations is an integral part of the EU-Azerbaijan relations. She expressed confidence that this program and simulation exercises will increase the knowledge about how to act in case of an accident.

ADA University Knowledge Center director Nargiz Ismayilova spoke about the importance of the EU's aid to the institution she worked.

The event continued with presentations by experts and stimulatory exercises.

The exercise lasts up to February 25.
