On March 28-29, 2019 events on “March 31 – the Day of Azerbaijani Genocide” were held at Baku, Sumgayit, Karabakh, South and North regional centers.

Along with the staff of the regional centers, the staff of the Ministry's other bodies participated at the events.

The events started with a minute of silence for the genocide victims.

It was said that the massacre of March 31, 1918, which one of the most terrible tragedies of the history of mankind, was a part of the ethnic cleansing and genocide policy committed against the Azerbaijani people.

Tens of thousands of our compatriots were killed atrociously, villages were burned, historic and cultural monuments were destroyed by armenian-bolshevik armed groups. Genocide of Azerbaijanis was carried out in Baku, Shamakhi, Guba, Karabakh, Zangazur, Nakhchivan, Lankaran and other places. Just in March and April 1918, Armenian armed units killed more than 50,000 Azerbaijanis.”

It was noted that according to the decree signed by the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev on March 26, 1998, every year March 31 is marked as the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis.
